# Reedapt API

> Dub video and audio from your own software, in each speaker's own voice.

The Reedapt API does what the Reedapt app does, from your code. Upload a file, start a dub in one or more languages, and get a webhook when each one is ready. Dubs are counted in minutes of source media, once per language, the same way as in the app.

>
> Dub your first video in four requests.

> **[Webhooks](https://docs.reedapt.com/guides/webhooks.md)**
>
> Hear when a dub finishes, and check that the message came from us.

> Every endpoint, field and error, with a playground to try them.

## How a dub works

**1. Upload the file**

Send the file to storage in parts with signed links, or give us a public link and we download it. See [Uploads](https://docs.reedapt.com/guides/uploads.md).

**2. Start the dubs**

One request starts a dub for each language you ask for. Each one reserves its minutes. See [Dubs](https://docs.reedapt.com/guides/dubs.md).

**3. Get the files**

A `dub.completed` webhook tells you when a dub is ready. Download links come from `GET /dubs/{id}/files`.

## Base URL

```text theme={null}
```

Every request needs an API key and returns JSON. The OpenAPI file is at [`/v1/openapi.json`](https://api.reedapt.com/v1/openapi.json) for code generators and API clients.
